WORK EXPERIENCE
Optum
I led research-driven design initiatives to improve healthcare products and streamline complex systems. I worked closely with stakeholders, developers, and cross-functional teams to ensure seamless user experiences, focusing on accessibility and intuitive design.
From journey mapping to prototyping, I translated user insights into solutions that enhanced claim processing, modernized billing systems, and improved overall efficiency—ultimately increasing productivity by 18%. One of my most impactful projects involved conducting user research in Hawaii to design a patient intake application that addressed social determinants of health, ensuring more inclusive and effective healthcare solutions.
Beyond design work, I played a key role in aligning multiple scrum teams to a unified UX roadmap, helping to keep projects on track and ensuring consistency across digital platforms. I also facilitated stakeholder workshops, presenting research insights and interactive prototypes that influenced high-level decisions.
My role was a mix of strategy, problem-solving, and hands-on design, allowing me to create experiences that not only met business goals but also made a real difference for users navigating healthcare systems.
Optum TDP Manager
As a TDP Manager at Optum, I had the opportunity to mentor and guide interns and graduate students, helping them develop real-world problem-solving skills. One of my favorite tasks was leading a Shark Tank-style competition, where I coached teams to create innovative, user-centered healthcare solutions solving the issue of long wait times in the hospital.
I also worked to build awareness of UX design principles within Optum’s Technology Development Program (TDP), making sure new talent understood the value of human-centered design in healthcare.
Beyond mentorship, I collaborated with TDP to introduce best practices in UX, research, and strategy to incoming students. My role was all about empowering others, fostering creativity, and driving meaningful innovation—which made it both rewarding and impactful.Optum TDP
I worked closely with developers and stakeholders to understand business needs, capture user workflows, streamline workflows, create user stories and test updates to ensure the maintained systems aligned with business goals.
My role involved troubleshooting problems, organizing data, and assisting teams in building user-friendly solutions that aligned with business needs.
